Test Session

Rougemont, NC - On 21 November 2021, Tech Racing conducted their first test session with their newest driver, Daniel Dean Jr. at Orange County Speedway. The test session went off without a hitch, and garnered better than expected results. Dean proved himself worthy behind the wheel as he learned the racing line. The car handled well, albeit leaving the team writing on a notepad to make adjustments before the next session. The bulk of adjustments needed were for driver comfort, such as swapping in a new seat and adjusting seat position.

Professional photographer Aaron Young came on-board with the team. Aaron snapped over 100 photos and multiple videos during the hours long test, documenting every development. Mike Chambers gave Dean a ride around the track to better show the desired line. This proved to make Dean more consistent and better at identifying brake markers. While Dean was in the car making laps, Thomas Chappell was over the radio reporting lap times, signaling to practice restarts, and helping him figure out optimal on-throttle times.

The team melded together seamlessly. Every aspect of the team proved essential from the crew prepping the car and making adjustments, Chappell being the voice in the drivers head, Chambers passing down well-earned tips and experience to Dean, to Young capturing every moment, and of course Dean making the most of the test session. 2022 looks to be a solid season for the team.
