Daniel Dean Jr. Makes His Return Behind the Wheel

TIMBERLAKE, NC (Feb. 29, 2024) – One year after his last outing as a competitor, 2022 Orange County Speedway Charger ROTY Daniel Dean Jr. makes his return behind the wheel to chase his first Charger Late Model track championship in the No. 4 Tech Racing/Chappell Resources Chevrolet Camaro at Southern National Motorsports Park.

Dean had strong words about his return to full-time competition. “I feel like I’ve been given a second chance at glory. Mike and Thomas deserve a championship, so I intend to do my best to make it happen.”

By the conclusion of his rookie late model season in 2022, Dean had produced impressive results. The No. 57 Chevrolet SS found victory lane once, brought home a 2nd place trophy in the Choice Automotive Charger division championship and a 4th place finish in the Bojangles Late Model Stock division championship at Orange County Speedway. To add to the team’s success in 2022, Dean also recorded his first pole position onto his stat sheet.

Car owner Thomas Chappell was enthusiastic from the very start of the discussion about running full-time with Dean behind the wheel. “We are excited to have Daniel return to the seat of one of our cars and continue to his growth and success behind the wheel. We are also honored that he has chosen to return the #4 back to the racetrack and hope it brings him the success it has to our other drivers.”

For 2024, Dean will be piloting the No. 4 to pay homage to Chappell’s driving career. The No. 4 has been a flagship car in the Chappell Resources racecar stable since 2012 and has competed in various weekly Charger and Late Model Stock series up to the CARS Tour Late Model Stock series. Since Chappell debuted the number in 2012, it’s won 11 races and claimed 2 championships, 5 races and 1 championship with Chappell as the pilot. Their season will begin on March 2nd with the kickoff of the 2024 Speed Week and run until June 8th.
